I have read every book out there on Tammy Wynette and George Jones. If I was asked to compare the book Tammy's daughter Jackie Daly wrote to the one Georgette Jones wrote, I would have to say that I enjoyed Georgette's book considerably more. Although I feel that Tammy's death was surely tragic, Georgette brought her Mom "to life" in her book. She shared many wonderful memories about Tammy, letting readers know that there was far more JOY in Tammy's life then most people think. "The Three of Us" was a wonderful, poignant read. I could feel the love coming through Georgette's writing, and also the gripping angst she felt when things happened that were beyond her ability to control. I loved all the pictures and even felt a sort of longing to read more when I finished the book. If this talented woman decides to write any future books, I would definitely want to read them. Thanks for sharing your life with your Mom and Dad with us, Georgette! It was a total reading pleasure.

The Three of Us Growing Up with Tammy and George Georgette Jones Patsi Bale Cox 9781439198575 Books Reviews

I found the book interesting enough that I finished it in two days. The author seemed to come to terms with her dad at the end of the book, but google tells me that didn’t last. He must have gone to his grave not speaking to his daughter.
I guess I shouldn't say this but somehow I think George Richey was responsible for Tammy's death. I feel so sorry for Georgette. She lost her mom and now has lost her dad. I can't believe she and her half sisters didn't get at least three fourths of Tammy's estate. I don't understand how Richey could call that doctor from out of state to fly into Tammy's home and pronounce her death. I would have thought at that time an autopsy would have been done. Somebody seemed to be hiding something. When there is a death in the family like that, you call 911 and get an ambulance and EMT's there immediately.
I enjoy reading this book, the author was wonderful and the book never dragged. I loved Tammy with her singing and her songs. I'm sorry her children had to put up with her husband and all that unpleasant. I hope Georgette makes it in music and everything else she wants to do.
This book can be read & enjoyed by fans of George & Tammy (which I am) as a revealing history of events as told from Georgette's perspective, but also as the story that once more demonstrates how the children of divorce are truly the biggest victims. It's heartwarming to know that she was able to have a relationship with both parents before their deaths. It may give hope to parents & children that have been separated and/or alienated from one another by divorce that as long as you each live, the hope of sharing a relationship still exists. Although it's quite obviously written from her perspective (no surprise) Georgette has composed an open, honest and surprisingly candid story. You don't have to be a country music fan to enjoy it.
A great book about having two famous parents. I would recommend it highly if you love George Jones and Tammy Wynette for a look at their family life. It reads well
I love reading autobiographies and memoirs. I always try to keep an open mind so that my review reflects the actual book and not my feelings about the author's life choices. In this case, there just wasn't much to go on. There were a few times when I thought "Ok, we're going to do more than just scratch the surface here!" but then it just fell flat. There were several references to other people's books, but no real depth to this one. I'm a little disappointed.
I really enjoyed this book, so much so that I actually read it in one sitting (with a few breaks of course) because I did not want to put it down. The book was very easy to read, very well written. It has just about everything you could want in a book. It takes a look into the life of fame and high society, the country music industry and all of the downfalls of this lifestyle that the general population never really considers or tries to understand. The book shows that no matter what status you have in this life we are all subject to the same kinds of problems, fame does not exclude anyone from life's hardships, the grass is not always greener. Sure you can have more toys in life, but fame or fortune does not exclude anyone from the heartaches of life.

The book also shows that a life of fame can bring with it its own type of hardships that many never realize. Fame takes away privacy and provides a higher level of scrutiny to anyone that achieves it. Fame & fortune make the fortunate a constant target by con-artists. Basically, you lose your privacy, the media attacks you, people are always trying to get your money and so on. The next time you think the grass is greener on the other side, realize that maybe it's not, it's just a different shade of green.

As a fan of older country music and especially of George Jones I really enjoyed reading these personal family stories. It was very easy to see that both George Jones and Tammy Wynette were very down to Earth people that did not let fame turn them into snobs. I admire nothing more than people that have the strength to remain grounded even with great status. It is also easy to see that the author Georgette even though both of here parents were super famous is also a very down to Earth person. I was surprised to learn that she lives like an average person, even living in a trailer for a time and having a diet of ramen noodles at another time. She made it clear that even though when she was young growing up in the high-society lifestyle that her mother taught her the importance of work and that I admire to no end.

This book has many ups and downs, it is funny at times and very sad at times. It shows that the life of a child of famous parents is surely not as easy as you would think. I will be sure to check out Georgette's music as well as I always enjoy supporting good people and after reading her book there is no doubt in my mind that she is a fine person.
