I love Olivia Dade's writing style. I liked a lot about My Reckless Valentine, which is filled with humor and witty dialogue, as well as characters who I enjoyed getting to know.

My Reckless Valentine is book #2 in the Lovestruck Librarians series and the follow-up to Broken Resolutions. The heroine, branch manager Angie, frequently finds herself in hot water with library administration. Angie has a tendency to shirk professional propriety in favor of risqué library programs and displays. Library admin has made it clear that Angie will be fired if she does one more thing that reflects poorly on the library's reputation.

At the beginning of the story, Angie meets the hero, Grant, in a hilarious scene involving cars and wayward luggage with some very useful contents. I loved the comical circumstances of their meeting and how it quickly turned into a hot hookup.

Angie tends to be impulsive, both at work and in her personal life. For Grant, though, a hookup is totally out of character for the guy known as Mr. Spreadsheet. Just this once, Grant decides to have some fun and give in to his instant attraction to this woman he has just met.

The sex is amazing and leaves them both wanting more--not just more sex, but the possibility of a relationship. There's just one problem: they never discussed their occupations when they met. The morning after, they discover that Grant is Angie's new direct supervisor at the library.

I was very interested to see how this played out. The title of the book is very fitting because it can be applied to both Angie and Grant. When they meet, they fall for each other hard and fast. As such, they know it's risky for both of their jobs if they pursue a relationship, but they do so anyway. It's quite reckless on both their parts.

Their physical chemistry is explosive and I appreciated that Grant isn't a stereotypical alpha male. Outside the bedroom, his personality is logical and mild-mannered. In the bedroom, however, he finds himself exploring a side that he's never experienced before--one that Angie alone has brought out of him.

As with book #1, I got a sense of insta-love between the main characters since they fall for each other so quickly. Also, I think the central conflict of the story was resolved a little too easily. I found it hard to believe just because I kept imagining what those scenarios would look like if they happened at the library system where I work, but I was willing to accept the resolution within the fictional context of this book.

In addition to the romantic elements, something I also loved are the friendships between Angie and her coworkers, some from book #1 and others who we'll see again in forthcoming books. Additionally, Grant's relationship with his parents is touching and sweet.

As I mentioned, I'm a big fan of Olivia Dade's writing style, which I would recommend for fans of authors like Jill Shalvis and Victoria Dahl. It's a great mix of humor and heart. My Reckless Valentine is an enjoyable read that I recommend and it's a good addition to the Lovestruck Librarians series.

My Reckless Valentine Olivia Dade 9781616509361 Books Reviews

This one was just occasionally a little over the top for me, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this; engaging series and cast of characters, and I love the way it's not wholly focused on the two people and their relationship; their work and families are important to them too, as are their friends.
4 stars

Wow I don't think I have ever come across a book like this. The subtlety of new horizons mixed with a bunch of standing on the edge became this authors greatness with Angela and Grant the always on the edge kept me on my heels throughout the book.

Sex scenes were like taking your first bite of cake once cooled the deliciousness of it became the torture.

Happy Reading
Wonderful book. I will be adding this series to my Keeper shelf. Funny, Sexy, a powerful story about falling in love and being willing to give up everything you have worked for and dreamt about in order that the person you love doesn't get hurt.
This is another great, fun read from Olivia Dade. At this point I am just going to read everything she writes. I liked this one even more than Broken Resolutions, mostly because the heroine Angie is so much...well everything. She could be overwhelming on one hand or obviously compensating on the other, but Dade gives her room to both be herself and be nervous about why she's that way and what it means for her future. Dade's pairing of Angie with a very nice hero/boss brings these issues bubbling up and then keeps them (and the couple) at a spicy simmer throughout.
I think this book should get a prize for the most inventive, hilarious meeting between a guy and a girl. I won't tell you the details, I don't want to spoil the riotous laughter.
This book is about a librarian named Angie and the guy, Grant, with whom she falls in love. Talk about opposites, Angie is, um, a little raunchy and Grant is a bit straight-laced. There are also other problems concerning Angie's job. The result is hilarity and a sweet, sweet love story punctuated by some pretty steamy love scenes. I am getting more accustomed to them. I didn't even take off a point.

I highly recommend this book. In fact, I highly recommend the whole series. It is funny and sweet and so enjoyable. Jump in anywhere. They do not need to be read in order.
I’m on my third Olivia Dade in a row. This series has inadvertently turned into an impromptu binge read but I can’t help it - it’s that damn good.

Angie self-sabotages, her impulsiveness and her random acts of smut really make no sense...until you get farther into the story. Then the woman who drove me crazy suddenly makes a helluva lot of sense. Grant is a delightful blend of nerdy and hot. He believes in making weighted decision charts. He is known as safe and logical, and certainly not the man to go a bit caveman. He is sweet, a bit shy and yet he certainly has some lovely grr moments. He’s caring and protective...just the kind of hero I love.

While I love the romance, it does happen at warp speed, which gives a bit of instalove feel to the proceedings. This is a small concern in the long run, because while the romance starts immediately, time is spent developing that connection and I was able to invest in their HEA.
The shiniest of moments though are the female friendships. There aren’t enough series where the female friendships are the focal point AND where it’s about the greatness of them, instead of bonding through hating other female characters. For that, Ms. Dade has captured my attention and my admiration.

The writing has continued to impress, the characters are fun, the chemistry is hot, the setting is fresh and the banter is on point. If you’re into contemporary romances, I’d recommend this book and the whole series, for that matter.
