Eve Gray walks into the LOST (Last Option Search Team) offices demanding to speak with Gabe Spencer, the owner and former SEAL. As she's being told he can't see her, he enters the room and agrees to see her. Gabe is suspicious of her story at first. He follows her when she returns to a homeless shelter she's been staying at. He's attracted to her and tries to keep his distance because she may have a husband/lover in her unremembered past.

As threats against her begin, he pulls his LOST team into action. All the women the Lady Killer abducts and kills look just like Eve. As her memories begin to return in bits and pieces, the woman she was is polar opposite of who she is without her memories.

The story has action/adventure and twists and turns. The reveal of the killer is somewhat expected (at least for me). The reason for the kills shows the killer's sick and twisted mind.

For a first book in a series, the storyline was pretty good and we got to meet the LOST team who will have their own stories to come.

Cynthia Eden does these company-rescue-falls-for-client books well...

But then again, it kind of makes me fear that she's writing a little niche for herself and outside of her paranormal world, the only books she's going to write are just that company-rescue-falls-for-client, and after a while, there are only so many story lines that you can do on that point.

Regardless, she did a very good job with BROKEN.

Going into this story, I knew that I was going to like it. Everything about the synopsis pulled me in.

When Eve showed up at Gabe's office, he was attracted to the woman. However, her claiming to possibly be Jessica Montgomery made him put up some walls. With the disappearance of Jessica, the Montgomery family had put aside a large sum of money. Understandably he needed to know for sure that she was indeed Jessica before they made that claim.

Gabe's biggest problem though was his attraction. The first few days he was constantly reminding himself that she was a client. However Eve is also drawn to Gabe, and she's certain she had not felt that way before.

Gabe is understandably and slightly possessive man. Part of that is his history as a seal, but part of that is his history has a whole. Gabe and Wade's friendship is rock solid and as such, I'm extremely excited to read Wade's book. While Gabe's sister isn't around anymore, I'm sure that he has some harboring feelings that deal with her.

I enjoyed watching Gabe fight his attraction, and then deal with his protectiveness, over Eve. Also, I liked the way Cynthia wrote Eve's character -- how she slowly regained her memories and that they scared her. However, there was s scene or two where I felt she was too pouty.

This was well written, the audience and dreams done well and not overly dramatic, and certainly makes me excited to see where else Cynthia brings us in the world of LOST.
Broken is the first book in Cynthia Eden’s romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women of LOST (Last Option Search Team). This book center's around the founder of Lost, Gabe Spencer a former Navy Seal and Eve Gray. A woman who woke up in the hospital with no memories. Her injuries suggested that she had been tortured and she had a severe concussion. Eve sees a picture in the paper of the victims of a Serial Killer, dubbed the Lady Killer and realizes she looks exactly like one of the victims. When the police don't believe her, she goes to the LOST agency hoping that Gabe will uncover the truth and find out who she is.

I really enjoyed both Eve and Gabe's characters and their relationship. Eve is a very strong female lead who despite her horrible circumstances continues to fight. Gabe is a strong Alpha male with an interesting past as well. The sex scenes are intimate and hot. But the thing I liked the best, were the supporting characters (the rest of the LOST team). Each team member has suffered a loss somewhere and has a reason from joining LOST and I am really looking forward to reading their stories. The side characters from Eve's past are also interesting and throw a few red herrings into the mystery/suspense portion of the book. I really enjoyed Broken and look forward to the rest of the series.
I liked the story but I felt it drag on too long. Eve/ Jessica some things were unrealistic. I need to go to the lighthouse at night even though I dont remember anything and a killer is after me and if you dont go then i will go by myself. Its unrealistic that she couldn't wait until daylight and would go by herself and then i just need to get out of here. I'm running away. For someone with amnesia and did not know who the killer was she loved to take chances. Also why would Wade let Sarah go back to the Condo and he stay outside knowing she wasn't sure they caught the killer.
